Grubhub Enhances Personalization and User Experience with New Features

Grubhub introduced several new features to elevate the user experience from the moment they open the app. The updates can help streamline the process of finding the perfect meal, manage credits, and improve order tracking and delivery speed. The new features include personalized homepage recommendations, a digital wallet for credits, add-on suggestions at checkout, priority delivery options, live activity tracking, and a self-service order resolution tool.

Grubhub’s homepage now consists of more than 30 personalized recommendation carousels tailored to each user’s preferences and order history. The carousels showcase restaurants with quick delivery times, favorite cuisines, and new local spots, among other options. The recommendations are based on various factors like click-through rates, time of day, and whether the user is new or returning. This personalization increases the likelihood of users placing orders by presenting them with relevant dining options.

To help users manage their credits, the wallet feature displays all forms of available credits in one place and is accessible from the homepage, ensuring users can view their credits before ordering. Additionally, the new cross-sell placement feature at checkout provides menu suggestions to enhance the ordering experience. For those who value speed, Grubhub’s Priority Delivery ensures faster delivery times for a small fee of $2.49. Grubhub+ members can enjoy priority delivery for free during the promotional period. Thereafter, it will be available to them at a reduced cost.

Amazon Unveils Advanced Model of Just Walk Out Technology for Checkout-Free Shopping

Amazon recently announced the unveiling of a smarter, more advanced model of its Just Walk Out technology to improve the retail experience through a new multi-modal AI system. The latest innovation utilizes the same transformer-based machine learning (ML) models to enhance the accuracy of tracking shopper activity in real-time. By integrating data from cameras and sensors at the same time, the system avoids the limitations of linear item-tracking methods. The advantage to retailers is a more expedient and efficient deployment of checkout-free solutions, while customers enjoy seamless shopping at an increasing number of checkout-free stores.

One of the standout features of the new Just Walk Out technology is its ability to adapt to unusual shopping environments, such as an obscured camera view. The new version of Just Walk Out is significantly improved and processes various inputs like weight sensors, data, and cameras simultaneously, ensuring high accuracy even in challenging scenarios. The continuous self-learning capability, trained on a 3D map of the store and a comprehensive product image catalog, allows the system to adapt to changes in store layouts and merchandise arrangements.

Amazon has expanded the reach of Just Walk Out to more than 170 third-party locations, including airports, universities, stadiums, and hospitals across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia, with plans to add more in 2024.
