RAVE®, a mobile employee engagement solution for large organizations, was recently announced as a Top HR Product of the Year.  Loyalty 360 had the opportunity to hear from Lo, interactive strategist for BI WORLDWIDE, about what inspired its creation, the response from RAVE users and the impact on engagement.

LOYALTY 360:  What marketplace conditions led to the creation of RAVE?

LO:  BI WORLDWIDE was watching the emerging mobile trends like many others. It quickly became apparent that mobile solutions were needed by our customers as well. After some initial research we realized that many companies were exploring how to expand their web-based platforms into the mobile environment. We wanted to start mobile and extend back to desktop. And based on the explosion of smart phones in the last 18 months, we were on the right track. BI WORLDWIDE has put forth a concerted effort to lead the way with mobile solutions. RAVE is one of many options we can offer customers to drive engagement with their employees, channel partners and consumers.

Where is RAVE currently being used?

RAVE® has garnered a ton of interest from those in retail as it provides a way of connecting headquarters and the field to the front lines in a whole new way.  But, RAVE is not exclusive to retail — it is a great solution for audiences on the move, those in non-office work environments, and those with little access to a PC during their work day or any combination.

What has been the response from both executives and employees?

Operations executives tell us they love the idea of RAVE because it gives them an efficient way to communicate, reinforce key messages and training, and execute on recognition strategies. Sales executives tell us they like the way they can put focus on key products or initiatives through spurts and incentives. Marketers tell us they love that they can connect the front lines to their brand message directly – helping ensure the customer experience in the purchase transaction is what was promised in the marketing campaigns.

Probably the most important, however, is the level of engagement we’ve realized with RAVE where it has been launched. Our customers see engagement (defined by frequency of interaction with the system and connectedness with others through the system) levels exceeding 80%, compared to benchmarks with other traditional PC-based systems of 40-60%. RAVE speaks to workers in all environments. It provides them a way to connect with their company, an avenue for communication and celebration, and a way to bridge work life with home life.
