In a perfect world, traveling would always be an enjoyable experience. If the Muppet Movie was any indication of reality, people could travel “footloose and fancy free,” like Fozzie Bear and Kermit. The truth is, people can travel “fancy,” but traveling “free” is as elusive as chasing a setting sun.
Some airline travelers, however, have tried getting away with free airline travel through loyalty program fraud, a widely admonished act accomplished through theft, hacking, and illegal miles transfers. In light of this, CellPoint Mobile, a European digital solutions firm that helps companies integrate transactions through a singular platform, has launched an anti-fraud suite, in an effort to stem the illegal efforts of the mile moochers.
From the companies’ perspective, it is critical to have an application to defend airline integrity and assets, as loyalty fraud can result in potentially millions of dollars lost.
“Because frequent flyer miles represent a significant part of an airline’s valuation,” Kristian Gjerding, CellPoint Mobile CEO, said in a release,
“airlines need the critical ability to step-check transactions in real time to prevent an individual or group from hacking a member’s account or gaining access to miles or rewards currency they have not legitimately earned.”
The CPM anti-fraud suite uses cross-channel technology to integrate data, improving client profits, customer service and innovation, and overall loyalty.
