McAlister’s Deli is ramping up its U.S. growth strategy as part of GoTo Foods’ portfolio of restaurant brands. The fast-casual chain has signed franchise agreements in 2025 that will bring 265 new restaurants into development by 2032, reflecting rising interest from experienced multi-unit operators who value enhanced customer experiences, long-term value, and operational simplicity.

Much of the expansion is being driven by established franchise partners, including Southern Rock Restaurants, one of the brand’s largest operators. The group currently runs 165 McAlister’s Deli restaurants and has agreed to open 16 additional locations, with dozens more already in development across regions such as Virginia and the Midwest.

New multi-unit development deals have also been signed across Florida, Alabama, and the Minneapolis, St. Paul area, and other Midwestern markets.

McAlister’s Chief Brand Officer Danielle Porto Parra said, “Our multi-unit operators are central to McAlister’s Deli’s growth, and their continued investment reflects confidence in a model that works for both guests and franchisees. We grow by staying grounded in what matters most – nourishing genuine connections with guests and providing them a little something extra, supporting operators with clarity, consistency, and ease of operations, and expanding in ways that strengthen communities and restaurant performance over time.”

Southern Rock Restaurants CEO Max Piet added, “McAlister’s Deli combines a strong brand with a proven operational model, making it an ideal partner for multi-unit growth. The support structure helps us open restaurants thoughtfully, maintain consistency for guests, and focus on running strong, sustainable businesses in the markets we serve.”

McAlister’s combines the convenience of fast-casual dining with elements of full-service hospitality, including tableside ordering and free beverage refills. With a menu of more than 150 items that includes soups, sandwiches, salads, spuds, desserts, and iced teas and lemonades, the company has a structured approach to franchise operations, offering training, comprehensive onboarding, and tools to help operators manage multiple locations efficiently.
