DICK’S Sporting Goods has announced that it has expanded its previously internal influencer program, DICK’S Varsity Team, to the public. Sports and social media enthusiasts and DICK’S employees referred to as “teammates” are invited to apply. Selected members will collaborate with DICK’S Sporting Goods and top brands to create original social media content and share it on social platforms.
DICK’S Sporting Goods Vice President of Creative, Entertainment, & Sponsorships, Mark Rooks, said, “The DICK’S Varsity Team program and its talented content creators far exceeded our expectations over the past couple of years. The program’s continued success and the growing demand for authentic, first-person social content are the reasons we’re excited to expand the Varsity Team outside the walls of DICK’S Sporting Goods and bring together a new roster of sports-focused creators.”
The DICK’S Varsity Team will be mentored by prominent athletes Tara Davis-Woodhall, Hunter Woodhall, and Haley and Hanna Cavinder, each celebrated for their athletic skills and social media influence. The varsity team will receive a paid contract for content creation and social media posts, a monthly DICK’S gift card for products featured in content, the chance to be featured on DICK’S marketing materials, early access to VIP events and product launches, and expert insight and monthly learning sessions with DICK’S influencer marketing agency, Fohr.
Olympic gold medalist for Track & Field, Tara Davis-Woodhall said, “Sports have changed my life and taken me to places I once only dreamed of. I’m excited to partner with DICK’S, serve as a Team Captain for their Varsity Team program, and help share their mission of supporting athletes on their journeys and telling their stories.”
Since its launch in 2023, DICK’S Varsity members have participated in the creation of more than 1,000 social media pieces, amassing more than 38 million impressions and contributing to 10 major campaigns for DICK’S and brands like Away, Brooks, Carhartt, and New Balance.
