Through July 3, 2024, superfans of Chipotle Mexican Grill can submit a reason via social media why they should receive a Celebrity Card. The California-based fast-casual restaurant chain is running a contest where five people stand to win the coveted card. Previously, the card was mostly reserved for prominent athletes, musicians, artists, and influencers who expressed their love for the brand.
Chipotle enthusiasts can participate in the social media contest, which began on June 25, by creating and sharing content that showcases their passion for Chipotle and convinces the Mexican food chain why they are worthy of becoming a Celebrity Cardholder. Entrants should also use the hashtag #CelebCardContest when posting on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.
Acceptable content includes videos, photos, poems, songs, artwork, and more. Chipotle will choose up to five submissions to win a Celebrity Card and one free Chipotle meal a day for an entire year. In addition, each winner can place one catering order during the year to feed up to 50 people. Winners will be contacted by email on July 12.
“There’s always been a special mystique around the Chipotle Celebrity Card. Given that the word ‘celebrity’ comes from ‘celebrate,’ we realized there is no group more deserving of a celebration than our everyday superfans,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Brand Officer at Chipotle. “We are expanding on what it means to be a Chipotle celebrity and relaunching the program to deepen our connections with our most devoted guests.”
The Chipotle Celebrity Card program began in 2003 when a musician praised the restaurant on a reality TV show. Since that time, the company has surprised notable superfans who’ve shared their enthusiasm for Chipotle by giving them Celebrity Cards. With the new contest, a broader range of fans can have a chance to join the exclusive ranks of Celebrity Card holders.
