Marcus Theatres introduced its new Everyday Matinee program on Instagram, allowing moviegoers aged 11 and under, as well as those 60 and over, to purchase any movie ticket on any day for just $7 for any show before 4 p.m. The discounted ticket prices are available for summer blockbusters like “Deadpool & Wolverine” and highly anticipated sequels, such as “Despicable Me 4” and “Inside Out 2.”
“Many people, but especially families and seniors, are looking at their budgets closely and having to make hard choices,” said Greg Marcus, Chief Executive Officer of The Marcus Corporation. “Movies have always been a place for everyone to come together while watching a story on the big screen, and by offering families and seniors our new Everyday Matinee prices, we are helping make sure that going to the theatre will continue to be a treasured, shared affordable experience for generations to come.”
The Everyday Matinee program is one of several initiatives by Marcus Theatres to make going to the movies more affordable. In April, the theatre company started hosting Marcus Mystery Movie to offer movie viewers a chance to see a new film before its official release at the low price of just $5. Value Tuesday is another lower-cost offering, providing $7 admission for any movie at any time on Tuesdays, with special pricing on concessions. Members of the no-cost loyalty program Magical Movie Rewards (MMR) enjoy additional discounts, including $6 admission, half-off surcharges for screenings in SuperScreen® and UltraScreen® auditoriums, and reduced prices on concession combos, such as a hot dog for $2.50 or a Super Combo for $12.
Marcus Theatres also offers several discounts through the Marcus Passport, enabling moviegoers to purchase packages for multiple movies at a lower price point. Customers can currently choose from the Angel Studios’ Passport, which includes three movies for $20, the Summer Kids Dream Passport, which offers 12 children-friendly shows for $18, and the Studio Ghibli Passport and Sinister Sunday Passport. The Horizon Passport will be available soon, offering fans a chance to view both installments of Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga” and save up to $10 on ticket prices.
