American Express Expands Membership Rewards® with Pay with Points in Apple Pay

American Express is giving eligible Membership Rewards® Card Members a new way to use their points with the launch of Use Pay with Points with Apple Pay. The new feature allows Card Members to redeem Membership Rewards points directly during the Apple Pay checkout experience when shopping online or in apps on iPhone and iPad. There’s no need to leave checkout or open another app—simply select an eligible American Express Membership Rewards Card, choose “Use Rewards,” and apply points toward all or part of an eligible purchase. Apple Pay continues to provide the seamless, secure, and private checkout experience users know and trust, and Apple does not retain transaction information linked to Membership Rewards redemptions. 

This latest enhancement reflects American Express’ continued investment in providing more flexible ways for Card Members to use their rewards where they shop every day. It builds on the company’s broader strategy to expand redemption opportunities, including the recently announced Fanatics Membership Rewards transfer partnership, which will allow members to convert points into FanCash in the future. Together, these additions give Card Members even more choice in how they redeem the value of their Membership Rewards points.
