Frequent Starbucks patrons are undoubtedly familiar with its long-time Pick of the Week promotion. In the past, customers shopping at the national coffee chain for their morning pick-me-up could redeem Pick of the Week cards for a free download of the latest Black Keys, David Gray, or Lana Del Rey single. Starbucks has continually tweaked the promotion over the years, and it is now expanding the offer beyond music to in-app purchases for iOS users, this week featuring brain-training app Lumosity.

Lumosity is a puzzle app that improves brain function through the science of neuroplasticity and cognitive theory. Customers who redeem the code for a mobile download will be able to upgrade to the more expansive $15 Premium version of Lumosity. This app promotion is available to iPhone users or iPod Touch users with the Starbucks app.

Starbucks continues to enhance the customer experience through the addition of digital perks and multichannel engagement. Last year, Starbucks gave customers the ability to download digital content in-store by connecting to Starbucks’ wifi network, and last year it began allowing customers to scan codes on Pick of the Week cards to redeem offers. Though the Pick of the Week promotion will continue to change, customers looking for a hot cup of java will continue to receive digital perks at Starbucks.
