Chipotle Expands Athlete Partnerships With New Menu Items, Special Rewards Program Perks
Chipotle is strengthening its ties with college athletes through an innovative marketing push that blends food, football, and fan engagement. Following the expansion of its partnership program with student-athletes last month, the fast-casual chain has introduced exclusive digital menu items based on the personal orders of two college football players: University of Florida quarterback DJ Lagway and Ohio State University safety Caleb Downs. The limited-time offerings, the DJ Lagway Bowl and the Caleb Downs Bowl, are now available via the Chipotle app and website.
To deepen its connection with Gen Z consumers, Chipotle is also leveraging its new college-focused loyalty program, Chipotle U Rewards. Students can earn 1,000 bonus points when enrolling and receive an additional 20% in reward points for every order. These initiatives follow a recent partnership with all student-athletes from Ohio State, the University of Florida, and the University of Georgia for the 2025–26 school year. As part of the deal, athletes receive a customized Chipotle card that grants them one free entrée per week for 15 weeks.
The latest campaign is part of Chipotle’s broader “Real Food for Real Athletes” platform, launched in 2019 to provide high-performance nutrition to athletes at all levels. The brand continues to expand this initiative through creative collaborations, such as its recent partnership with EA SPORTS College Football 26, where digital athletes can earn in-game perks by promoting Chipotle’s Carne Asada.

American Express Enhances the Customer Experience With Travel App Launch to Simplify Trip Planning and Enhance Rewards Experience
American Express has introduced a new travel app designed to simplify how cardholders plan and book trips. The app integrates travel inspiration, exclusive offers, and booking functionalities into a single platform, allowing users to manage their entire travel experience, from airfare and hotels to rental cars, all in one place. According to AmEx, the app was developed in response to customer demand for more streamlined and rewarding travel tools, and features what it calls “curated travel content” to help guide trip planning.
Findings from a recent AmEx survey highlight the need for such a tool, showing that over half of travelers feel overwhelmed by the abundance of choices online, with many using multiple websites and spending several hours planning their trips. The new app was designed to eliminate that friction by offering personalized suggestions, clear views of travel benefits, and destination-specific insights. Future updates will include customized hotel recommendations and detailed travel benefit summaries, further enhancing the user experience.
Alongside the app, American Express is rolling out two digital tools: Amex Passport and a Centurion Lounge waitlist feature. Amex Passport enables U.S. cardholders to collect and share digital passport stamps stored on a public blockchain as mementos of their travels, addressing the 73% of respondents who wish to preserve travel memories digitally. Meanwhile, the lounge waitlist allows travelers to view estimated wait times at crowded Centurion Lounges. In a competitive move, J.P. Morgan Chase is also enhancing travel rewards, offering up to 9% cash back through its Chase Freedom cards on select travel bookings and seasonal retail purchases.
